Environment Waikato has announced that it will hold a public hearing related to a proposed asphalt plant in Riverlea Rd, Hamilton.

It has also issued a staff report on the proposal, which is available at http://www.ew.govt.nz/resourceconsents/hearingsdecisions/blacktop.htm

The hearing will begin on Monday 18 February at the Riverlea Theatre & Arts Centre in Riverlea Rd, Hamilton. The hearing will continue up until Friday 29 February if required.

Blacktop Construction Ltd has applied to the council for a resource consent to discharge contaminants to air (smoke, dust and products of incomplete combustion) from the proposed plant.

A council-convened hearings committee will hear the applicant’s case and consider submissions from supporters and objectors. Those who have already made written submissions will be able to be heard and call expert evidence.
