Hamilton City Council is hosting another V8 Trader Forum next week. The forums are designed to give Hamilton retailers and hospitality operators the inside track on what to expect of New Zealand’s largest annual event.

The Trader Forum will take place at 10am on Tuesday 29 January in Council’s Reception Lounge in Garden Place. The meeting will provide information about proposed road closures in the central business district, the structure of evening entertainment in the CBD and the details about liquor licensing arrangements.

Hamilton City Council general manager communication and marketing Philip Burton says that with tickets sales indicating huge interest in the event it is necessary that the city’s hospitality and retail sector is well prepared.

“We believe that the event will generate $20 million of new money in the local economy and clearly that means there are significant opportunities for Hamilton businesses.

“With an expected 60,000 people attending each day of the event it is important that the visitor experience in Hamilton is a good one. We want people to come back and we want them to tell their friends and family that coming to the V8 event in Hamilton is a great thing to do.”

Next week’s Trader Forums will specifically address hospitality issues and all hospitality operators are encouraged to attend at 10am on 29 January in the Hamilton City Council Reception Lounge.

Another separate Retailers’ Trader Forum will be advertised shortly.
