HAMILTON

With just over two months to the Hamilton 400 V8 Supercars street race, the race is on to finalise preparations for the track for what will be Hamilton’s and the country’s largest event and an action-packed weekend.

One of the final sections of the track to be prepared is the contouring and resealing of Norton Road Roundabout.

The contractor Downer EDi Works has completed the widening of the roundabout road and is now at the stage of undertaking the contouring and resealing of the outer lane of the roundabout.

To do this the roundabout will be closed to through-traffic only, from:

7.30pm to 6.30am

Thursday 7 to Wednesday 20 February.

The roundabout will be reopened every morning for the day from 6.30am to 7.30pm.

Controlled access to businesses and local residences will remain open at all times. Access for residents in Seddon Road between the roundabout and Mill Street at night will be via Norton Road west.

Although the roundabout will be closed to through-traffic at night, access to all businesses will remain open. Businesses will be open and will operate as usual. For instance, the video hire shop on the corner of Norton Road and King Street will be open as usual at night with customer parking being available on Norton Road beside the premises.

With the work being carried out at night there is likely to be some disturbance to some residents and businesses for which the contractor is doing what can practically be done to minimise any inconvenience. With residents, businesses and drivers cooperation the project can be completed as quick as possible to return things to normal.

Drivers are asked to avoid the intersection if possible.
