Nominations Called for Marfell Awards
Do you know someone in the Marfell community whose work has benefited local residents?
Nominations are being sought for the Marfell Outstanding Services Awards, which will recognise people who have demonstrated strength and determination while bringing peace, prosperity and good health to Marfell.
“This is one of the ways we are building on the pride and the positive aspects of living in Marfell,” says NPDC Manager Community Development Bry Kopu.
“There are a lot of people in Marfell whose efforts aren’t recognised by the wider community, and this is a chance for them to be congratulated for the selfless work they do.”
The awards will be announced at Marfell Mana!, a fun day at Marfell Park on Taranaki Anniversary Day.
Marfell Mana! has been organised by NPDC and the Marfell Combined Culture Trust. As well as the awards, the day includes hip-hop workshops, a BMX open day, a free sausage sizzle and skateboarding demos.
In addition, 15 graffiti murals that are being created by young people in Marfell will be formally opened during Marfell Mana!, with the murals to be mounted on the walkway between Cook and Banks streets.
“Marfell Mana! is a great chance for people throughout the district to come together in Marfell, enjoy the entertainment, see the skills on display and give something different a try,” says Ms Kopu.
The event starts at 10am in Marfell Park.
