Green Party MP Nandor Tanczos, who has announced he is stepping down from Parliament at the next election, has offered his support for his successor in the strong Green Party electorate of Auckland Central.

Nandor, who has stood in the seat for the last three elections, says Richard Green is an excellent choice as the Auckland Central candidate for the Green Party.

“Richard is a very strong candidate with an ability to communicate to the diverse electorate that is Auckland Central. His skills from working in the arts and community areas stand him well for the upcoming election and he has very strong bonds with the electorate,” Nandor says.

A member of the Green Party since 2001, Richard has held various posts in the party. He was Co-convener for the Auckland Province for three years, Campaign Manager for Auckland in the 2002 election and a candidate in the 2002 and 2005 elections. He was the first Green Party candidate selected in the party for the 2008 election.

Green is the Executive Director of a charitable arts trust, working in theatre, community events and film. He is also a trained Treaty Educator and consults to an advertising agency.

“I am looking forward to continuing to build on the strong support Nandor has brought the Greens in the last nine years,” Richard says. “I aim to further increase the party vote in 2008 and bring a new personality and a new set of skills to the role.”
