Ryder to apologise to hospital staff

Jesse Ryder is to apologise to staff in the Emergency Department of Christchurch Hospital after inappropriate behaviour in the department on Sunday morning.

New Zealand Cricket was made aware this morning that Ryder had been rude and demanding to Emergency Department staff attending to his injured hand.

Ryder accepts that his behaviour was poor and BLACKCAPS general manager Lindsay Crocker discussed the issue with him this morning.

“Jesse will apologise to staff and after a suggestion from Emergency Department staff will carry out voluntary work for the Emergency Care Foundation,” Crocker said.

“We are concerned about his behaviour throughout this incident and will put a programme of support around him to help him to try and address these types of issues.”
