Event transport trial
A bus service co-ordinated by organisers of this year’s PBT Gibbston Harvest Festival will help with the planning of passenger transport for future events in the district, Queenstown Lakes District Council transportation manager Denis Mander said.
The festival would be held at Mount Rosa Wines at Gibbston, on March 15 from 11am-4pm.
“Thanks to the Snag Bus, Connect-a-bus and Wanaka Connections there will be an affordable transport option to the festival from Wanaka, Cardrona, Cromwell, Arrowtown and Queenstown,” Mr Mander said.
We will be using information from the organisers to find out how receptive people are to using the buses, and to help with future event planning, he said.
Festival organisers were delighted with the addition of the public transport option.
“It’s the perfect solution for people wanting to attend and enjoy the food and wine on offer without the hassle of driving or worrying about providing a sober driver. We are delighted with the initiative,” Gibbston Festival spokeswoman Susan Stevens said.
Further details of the transport option on offer and the schedule were available in the council newsletter Scuttlebutt or the council website on the home page under ‘what’s hot’. Bookings were recommended.
