MANUKAU CITY

Manukau Mayor Len Brown is congratulating the leader of one of the city’s successful companies for his recognition in the World Class New Zealander Awards.

Pumpkin Patch Chief Executive Maurice Prendergast won the manufacturing category in the awards, which recognise New Zealanders making an outstanding contribution to the country’s economic development.

The New Zealand Trade and Enterprise awards recognise New Zealand’s ‘Tall Poppies’ who provide inspiration and leadership for the next generation of business, creative and academic leaders. Winners are those who have given their time, knowledge and skills to help New Zealand succeed internationally.

Mr Brown says the award for the chief executive of the East Tamaki-based business is well deserved.

“Pumpkin Patch is a Manukau success story. Their clothing is sold around the world and they have a network of stores in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

“I’d like to congratulate Maurice Prendergast for his excellent leadership. Every time a Manukau business or business person receives recognition it provides inspiration for others who are out there working hard.

“One of the critical factors in making our city a great place is the success of our businesses. Whether large or small, they all have a part to play in helping Manukau and its residents thrive,” Mr Brown says.
