HASTINGS

Hastings District Council has received over two hundred submissions on the proposed Hill
Country Corporation private plan change for Ocean Beach and although the deadline has
passed more are arriving each day.

Two hundred and five submissions had been received by the deadline of 29 Feb.
Including late submissions the total is now at 210. Of those, 185 opposed the private plan
change and 23 were written in support of the proposal, with two neither in support nor
opposition.

Senior planner Phil McKay said a strong response rate early on in the submission period
signalled the level of public interest.

“Most submissions we handle arrive very near to the closing date. With this proposal we
received a high number early on which is an indication of the level of public interest around
the issue,” said Mr McKay

Submissions will now be collated and a summary will be available in a month’s time, when
further submissions will be invited. Copies of the original submissions will be available
online from next week at www.hastingsdc.govt.nz.
