Options for public transport in the Greater Wellington region will be discussed at a series of seven community forums to be held across the region over the next few weeks.

“A massive investment has been made in recent years on public transport infrastructure and services across the region. More is planned and there are several possibilities for future investment that we would like our communities and ratepayers to think carefully about,” Greater Wellington Regional Council deputy chair and Public Transport Committee chair Peter Glensor said.

“We don’t have unlimited funds, and increasing services beyond our current commitments will have an impact on fare-payers and ratepayers alike.

“A purpose of these forums is for people to gain a clearer understanding of the public transport matters that will be grappled with by Greater Wellington in the immediate future.

“The meetings will be interactive where people will have an opportunity to see the impact of different future choices. Anybody who is interested in public transport matters is warmly invited to attend,” Peter Glensor said.

The seven community forums are scheduled as follows:

Wairarapa: WBS Room, Greytown Town Hall; Monday 17 March

Upper Hutt: Hapai Club, 879 Ferguson Drive, Upper Hutt; Tuesday 18 March

Lower Hutt: Supper Room, Lower Hutt Town Hall; Wednesday 19 March
