Taupo District Council wants to know what challenges the community thinks the District faces which may potentially affect quality of life over the next ten years.

The Council is preparing to review and update its long-term plan for the District and is seeking feedback on whether the challenges it has identified are inline with those the community believe to be important.

Some of the issues identified by Council include air and water quality, feeling safe, cost of living, and economic diversity.

Mayor Rick Cooper says that while quality of life in the Taupo District is high, the Council and community need to continue striving to make it even better. “We know from our research there are things which need improving and we want to make sure they’re what our people think are important too,” says Mayor Cooper.

The Council has prepared a ‘Challenges Paper’ and feedback form to make it as easy as possible for the public to provide their ideas. The Council wants to collate a broad list of challenges and establish which the community believe are most important. This will ensure the Council is focussing on the right areas in the coming decade.

“We want to help make the District a place for our children to treasure,” says Mayor Cooper.

“With a collaborative approach, we will maximise our chances of making Taupo the best it can be.”

For a copy of the Challenges Paper and feedback form, visit www.taupodc.govt.nz, phone 376 0899, or call into any of the TDC offices.
