Waikato is still in serious drought conditions.

Lake Taupo services far more than just supplying water to the Taupo District so we all need to be wise about our water use.

The District’s current water use has decreased steadily throughout early March.

Council’s Environmental Educator, Sarah Painter, is thrilled to see residents are obviously taking action to conserve water. “It’s great that people are using less water – every little change in behaviour really does make an impact. We are still in drought conditions though so we need to keep up the effort,” she says.

To continue reducing your water use, adjust the water level of your washing machine according to the size of the load – or ideally use it only when you have a full load. Also, ensure you only use your dishwasher when it is full as water levels cannot be adjusted.
