Cullen Makes April Fools Of Hard-Working Kiwis
ACT New Zealand Deputy Leader Heather Roy today accused Finance Minister Dr Michael Cullen of making April Fools of hardworking Kiwi taxpayers through his series of so-called 'economic investments' that came into effect today.
"What sort investment is it that sees select groups - including beneficiaries, super-annuitants, companies and Kiwisaver members - benefit, while hardworking taxpayers are left out in the cold?" Mrs Roy said.
"Along with small business, the general working taxpaying public is the backbone of the New Zealand economy - yet where are the financial incentives for them?
"At a time when Dr Cullen should be using his surplus to improve the quality of life for ALL New Zealanders, he has instead decided to pick favourites - and left workers with nothing more than an increased cost of living.
"This is an absolute disgrace. Rather than picking favourites, the Minister should be taking a more sound approach. By capping Government spending he could give everyone a tax cut and make New Zealand a better place to work and live," Mrs Roy said.
