TAUPO

Taupo District Council wants to remind the community to give feedback on the challenges they think the District faces which may potentially affect quality of life over the next ten years.

The Council will soon be updating its long-term plan for the District and is seeking feedback on whether the challenges it has identified are inline with those the community believe to be important. Some of the issues identified by Council include air and water quality, feeling safe, cost of living, and economic diversity.

To make it easy for the public to provide their ideas, the Council has prepared a ‘Challenges Paper’ and feedback form which can be obtained by visiting www.taupodc.govt.nz, by phoning Council on 376 0899, or by calling into any of the TDC offices.

The community is also invited to attend open days where the challenges can be discussed directly with Council staff. The open days are at:

Taupo Great Lake Centre, Tuesday 8 April, 12.00pm – 7.00pm
Turangi TDC office, Wednesday 9 April, 12.00pm – 5.00pm
Mangakino TDC office, Thursday 10 April, 12.00pm – 5.00pm
Acacia Bay Hall, Saturday 12 April, 10.00am – 3.00pm.

Mayor Rick Cooper says that while quality of life in the Taupo District is high, the Council and community need to continue striving to make it even better. “We want to help make the District a place for our children to treasure,” says Mayor Cooper. “With a collaborative approach, we will maximise our chances of making Taupo the best it can be.”
