Netball New Zealand announced today the appointment of Raewyn Lovett as the new Chair of the Netball New Zealand Board. A member of the Netball New Zealand Board since April 2005, Lovett has been Acting Chair since November 2007.

Lovett was elected to the position on Wednesday 26 March at a Netball New Zealand Board meeting. The appointment comes after Don Mackinnon completed his eight year term on the NNZ Board in November 2007.

Netball New Zealand Chief Executive Raelene Castle says the netball community has welcomed the confirmation of Raewyn as Chair, as she has played a significant role in recent years in the leadership of the Netball’s high performance programmes and has played an integral part in the formation of the new ANZ Championship.

“Raewyn brings an impressive range of skills to the Board with her extensive governance experience and strategic thinking combined with a strong understanding of the sport. Raewyn will provide the Board with the continued leadership as Chair to take Netball forward”, she said.

The appointment is effective immediately.
