New Appointments to Council Committees

Waitaki District Council appointed two new members to Council committees at the recent Council meeting on 8 April.

In the March By-Election Kathy Dennison was elected as the new Waihemo Ward Councillor. Councillor Dennison was appointed as a member of the Assets and Community Services Committees at the April Council meeting. She has also been appointed as the Council’s representative on the Waihemo Community Board.

Councillor Dennison has ten years experience as a Community Board member, and has been the Chair of the Waihemo Community Board since October 2007. She was also a Waitaki District Councillor between 1998 and 2004.

Councillor Dennison said, “I am looking forward to being a part of the Assets and Community Services Committees and meeting the challenges associated with these roles.”

The Council also appointed Councillor Peter Garvan as a member of the Property Committee. Councillor Garvan has a Law Degree and has ten years experience in real estate. Councillor Garvan’s qualifications and experience make him well suited to become a member of the Property Committee.
