Cullen Must Announce Tax Cuts Now

Finance Minister Dr Michael Cullen has no credibility dithering over tax cuts - he should be announcing them now and implementing them before this election, ACT Leader Rodney Hide said today.

"That would give New Zealanders some certainty," Mr Hide said.

"Announcing tax cuts would be a big step toward turning the country's economy around - and would help prevent the drift of Kiwis to Australia.

"Dr Cullen promised tax cuts last election - only to cancel them once re-elected. New Zealanders remember this.

"For Dr Cullen's credibility he must announce his tax cuts immediately and implement them before the election," Mr Hide said.
