The Green Party will be holding a small symbolic protest outside the Australian consulate in Auckland at 11am to 11.30am today, in solidarity with the protest for a free Tibet taking place in Canberra today.

“We want to show the Aussies that us Kiwis are with them in supporting Tibetan rights as the Olympic torch passes through Canberra,” said the Green Party's Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Keith Locke.

“It is also in solidarity with the Australian Greens who will be active in the protests today. Green Senator Bob Brown will be speaking at the big rally near the Australian Parliament.

“At the Auckland protest there will be a symbolic torch, representing Tibetan freedom, a banner and a Tibetan flag.”
