Good response to Council's Draft Annual Plan

Submissions on Council’s 2008/09 Draft Annual Plan closed earlier this week with over 100 submissions received from the community providing feedback on the Draft Plan.

The next stage in the process is for Councillors to read through and consider all the submissions received and between 5 - 8 May, Councillors will hear those that want to present their submissions in person.

Councillors will then deliberate on submissions and decide whether they can incorporate the suggestions into the Draft Annual Plan.

At the Council meeting on 24 June, Council will adopt the 2008/09 Annual Plan.

The 2008/09 Draft Annual Plan was adopted by Council on 11 March 2008 has been out for public consultation since 17 March. As well as setting the rates for the year ahead, the Draft Annual Plan states the activities that Council plan to undertake, the associated costs and the deviations from the Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP).

This year residents had the option of making verbal submissions by calling Council as well as via the standard channels including post, email and web.
