A further extension has been agreed to the due date for two clearance decisions relating to The Warehouse.

The due date for both decisions has been extended to Friday 8 June 2007.

On 21 December 2006 the Commission received an application from the three Foodstuffs co-operatives seeking clearance to acquire up to 100% of the ordinary shares in The Warehouse Group Limited.

On 17 January 2007 the Commission received an application from Woolworths Limited seeking clearance to acquire up to 100% of the shares in, or assets, of The Warehouse Group Limited.

In considering the applications, the Commission's role is to determine whether the acquisition has the effect of substantially lessening competition in a market.

Public versions of the applications are available on the Commission's website www.comcom.govt.nz under Public Registers / Mergers and Acquisitions – Clearances. Extensions of due dates, and decisions once they are made, are posted on this page.
