Truck Rollover
Location of incident: SH 1, Southern Motorway, Takanini
Incident Type: Truck Rollover
Lanes one and two of the southern motorway, northbound at Manurewa have been closed by a crash involving a truck and two other vehicles. There are no reported serious injuries although the truck driver has been taken to Middlemore with facial cuts.
The truck was carrying gravel and the scene will take some considerable time to be cleared. Traffic is already backed up and significant delays can be expected.
At present traffic is being prevented from entering the motorway, northbound at Takanini to ease congestion and other traffic is using the one remaining lane.
As soon as diversions can be put in place, the motorway will be closed and all northbound traffic exited at Takanini. This will allow a crane to be used to right the truck and machinery brought in to clear the gravel.
