Mayoral Ward Clinic Pilot Continues in Eastern Ward

Eastern suburb residents are invited to meet Mayor Kerry Prendergast and local ward councillors at a Saturday morning ward clinic this Saturday, 24 May.

The clinic is the second to be held in a year-long pilot that provides an opportunity for residents to meet with the Mayor and councillors to discuss any Council-related issues they have in their community.

"I regularly meet with Wellington MPs and they tell me many of the issues raised at their electorate ward clinics are Council-related issues," says Mayor Prendergast. "So I wanted to give people a chance to raise those issues directly with me and their ward councillors.

"We held the first clinic in the Southern Ward earlier this month and that was a huge success, with a constant stream of people over the two hour period. They raised a wide range of issues from residents' parking to graffiti and road reserve policy to our cycling strategy."

This Saturday's clinic will be held at the Kilbirnie / Lyall Bay Community Centre on Bay Road between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Clinics in the Northern, Lambton and Western wards will be held later in the year.

Mayor Prendergast says no appointment is necessary. "Any Eastern Ward resident who wants to talk to either myself or Councillors Gill and Ahipene-Mercer about an issue in their community can do so this Saturday morning at the Kilbirnie / Lyall Bay Community Centre. Unfortunately Councillor Goulden has a prior commitment so is not able to attend.

"If we can provide the information they are seeking, or address their issue for them at the time, we will do so. If not, we will bring the issue back to the Council and make sure they receive a response as soon as possible."
