Taupo District Council are encouraging the community to provide feedback on the proposed changes to the Traffic Bylaw before submissions close this Friday (30 May), as the changes will impact on some key public parking areas in Taupo Town.

The Taupo District Traffic Bylaw 1999 has been reviewed in line with current parking practice and some fundamental changes are being proposed including a change to the all day parking status in Story Place behind the Great Lake Centre, changes to time limits outside the Library, lower Spa Road and Tamamutu Street and changes to berm parking.

It is also being proposed that a taxi stand be included in Tuwharetoa Street.

The Taupo District General Bylaw is also out for consultation. Minor amendments are being proposed and an addition made to include public reserve issues such as public safety, fees, and activities on reserves.

To find out details of the proposed changes to both bylaws go to www.taupo.govt.nz, visit one of the Council offices or Public Libraries or ring Council on 376 0899.

Submissions can be made in writing and close at 5pm, Friday 30 May 2008. Submitters will be given the option to present in person to Council.
