National Leader ignores EUFA
A national party MP turned up to a EUFA BlueChip meeting last Friday, 5 minutes before the meeting was scheduled to end. At closing of the meeting the MP was introduced by a person in the audience requesting he be allowed to speak. He was given the Microphone and stated he was there “to listen to the People”
He was immediately strongly challenged by Suzanne Edmonds for what she called a “Political stunt” as he had only just arrived. Ms Edmonds challenged him as the National party had shown no interest in the issue facing tens of thousands of New Zealanders. EUFA executive have been refused a meeting by the Leader of the National party’s office in a series of unfortunate emails. The reason EUFA wish to meet the leader is the issues fall within a large number of portfolios.
In discussion at a Tauranga meeting on Thursday it was reported that the same MP who attended the BlueChip Hamilton meeting to “listen to the people” had told his constituent who was an investor in finance companies, that his bad investment was his own fault.
Coordinator Suzanne Edmonds says “We have heard too many stories of MPs from both major parties telling their constituents it is their responsibility for deciding on a bad investment. She added “With all the issues including investigations with the Serious Fraud Office, these political statements are a disgrace”
Felicity Baker, office administrator for EUFA, said from Tauranga “These MPs should spend a day in our office or come out with us and met the people and they may get a reality check. Obviously they don’t care about their constituents or clearly do not understand what has happened here. They certainly have failed to research the key issues surrounding this crisis“
Margaret Rasmussen, daughter of the 90 year old Tauranga woman who was served a PLA notice says “I am totally disgusted in the Politicians attitudes as they have sat on their hands and criticized us, the investors. They might like to come and see the documents and hear what really happened and they may change their tune.”
Olly Newland who is giving professional advice to BlueChip victims has reportedly met with the Leader of the National party in relation to his clients yet EUFA have been denied a meeting. EUFA members have suffered in all financial collapses. The membership represents thousands of New Zealanders from Invercargill to Northland, so why the refusal?.
EUFA members and Executive are asking why National have such a closed door approach to the financial crisis from the finance company collapses.
Gray Eatwell Finance and Justice Spokesman for EUFA said at a public meeting in Tauranga on Thursday “You have to wonder why the National party are so scared of this issue – He added “There silence is very smelly.”
