In a snapshot of examples ratepayers can expect building consent deposits, cemeteries and housing to be among the services affected.

Building consent deposits are across the board from a $10 rise ($70 - $80) for fireplace installation or replacement, to $250 for a new large commercial/industrial construction ($1,450 - $1,700).

Other rises for new constructions range from $50 for a garage/workshop $330 - $380 – to $170 for a double storey dwelling - $1,030 - $1,200.

Building renovations start at $40 for house repiles ($260-300), to $75 for additions ($470 - $545).

Inspection costs will also rise by a similar amount with the total cost for a project determined by the number of inspections required.

The rise in fees reflected the demands the new Building Code had placed on building inspectors to achieve accreditation and the new level of qualifications required, manager regulatory services Mike Brown said.

Internment fees are set to rise by $20 to $380 and $470 depending on depth, and by $25 to $520 for exhumation or re-internment.

Plot purchase fees have also risen from $1 to $15 according to category and maintenance fees from $5 to $15.

Housing fees see a $3 rise for superannuitants and married couples in all districts from Norsewood and Ormondville to Eketahuna and for casual tenancy agreements.

Fees for tenants whose circumstances differ from the above will rise by $7 across the district except in Ormondville where they remain at $3.

The increases were costs that needed to be addressed as part of the 4.13% districtwide rate increase, Mayor Maureen Reynolds said.
