Citizenship ceremony
One Yugoslavian, one Fijian and five Zimbabwean are among the next thirty-four candidates to be given New Zealand citizenship.
The ceremony will be held in the Council Chamber of Councils’ main administration building on Wednesday 16th July 2008 from 7pm.
The full list of the nationalities gaining citizenship are as follows:

Present parties will be welcomed by Kaumatua, Mr Jim Whaanga, on behalf of tangata whenua
Entertainment will be provided by the Pareara Kapa Haka and each candidate will receive a Kowhai tree grown at the Hastings District Council’s Nursery, which symbolises “putting down roots”, presented to them by Mayor Lawrence Yule.
Representation from the 7th Wellington (City of Wellington’s Own) and Hawke’s Bay Regiment will attend the Mayor.
