The AC Baths and Taupo Events Centre have recently reviewed their fees and charges and from mid July, members should be aware that Council has approved a slight increase in membership fees to cover operational costs at the facilities.

The new membership fees, adopted as part of the 2008/09 Annual Plan, are closer aligned with what other public recreation facilities around the country are charging.

For the AC Baths, the 3 and 6 month memberships have increased by an average of 83 cents a week and spectators will now be charged $1.00 for entry. However, it is not all bad news for pool users. The 12 month memberships have decreased by up to $100 per annum to encourage community members to use the pools long term. Also members now also get the use of the sauna and steam room free of charge as part of their membership, previously paying $4.00 to use these facilities.

The Fitness Suite, situated at the Taupo Events Centre, has increased their 3, 6 and 12 month memberships by an average of 95 cents a week – less than the price of a chocolate bar. The Fitness Suite has increased its membership fees to cover the purchase of additional gym equipment and increased resources including a new staff member.

Recreation Manager, Thunes Cloete said that members would be given three weeks grace before the price increase took effect. “We have spent a lot of time reviewing the structure of our fees and charges to make sure they are fair and affordable for our community whilst ensuring that our customers continue to get the service they are accustomed too,” he said.

If you would like more information on the new fees and charges, pick up a flyer next time you visit the AC Baths and Taupo Events Centre or alternatively give them a call on 07 376 0350.
