Environment Waikato is working with police in an attempt to minimise disruption to bus users tomorrow amid threatened protest action by truck drivers, which could clog Hamilton roads during peak morning travel hours.

The council has been told that trucks are likely to converge on the central city from a variety of directions, which would naturally slow down the flow of buses and other traffic into Hamilton.

"We will be liaising with police over how disruption to bus passengers can be minimised," said acting land transport operations manager Sue Callis.

"If the truckies say they plan to use particular routes we may be able to slightly adjust where buses deliver passengers to in the central city to help keep people moving."

However, Mrs Callis warned that any protest action could result in significant disruption to normal bus operating times.
