New Zealand Cricket Media Statement - Zimbabwe

New Zealand Cricket today said it had confidence in the process the International Cricket Council is working through to resolve members’ concerns about Zimbabwe.

Following the ICC annual conference in Dubai last week it was announced that Zimbabwe would voluntarily withdraw from next year’s Twenty20 World Cup in England.

The ICC has also set up a committee to undertake a fact finding review on all aspects of Zimbabwe cricket.

“With our scheduled tour to Zimbabwe being 12 months away, it is premature to talk about whether or not the BLACKAPS will be touring there next year,” NZC CEO Justin Vaughan said.

“A lot can happen in that time, either through the ICC process or domestically within Zimbabwe,” he said.
