Police investigating firearms incident in Lower Hutt
Lower Hutt Police are investigating a firearms incident that occurred in Dempsey Street, Naenae, around 7pm last night.
A man was confronted outside his house by another man armed with a firearm. The firearm was discharged, striking the house, says Acting Lower Hutt Area Commander Inspector Mike Hill.
"The victim managed to dive to safety and was fortunately not hurt. The offender ran back to his car and left the area."
Police believe two cars were involved and want to hear from anyone who saw either a silver Nissan Skyline or a silver Mitsubishi Galant in Naenae last night.
Police believe the victim was specifically targeted. They are talking to witnesses, the victim and nearby residents today.
Police say it is too early to determine whether the incident is gang related.
