Volunteers Needed! Be Part of Upgrading the Stadium
Mayor Mark Ball accepted a gift of almost 3,000 seats from the Eden Park Trust Board in May this year. Now it’s your turn to be part of bringing the seats to Growers Stadium!
Upgrading the stadium is part of the Recreation Hub project. Franklin District Council is working with Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union, Hockey and other sporting groups to develop the Recreation Hub on Franklin Road.
Volunteers are needed on the 4th, 5th and 6th of August to help unbolt the seats from their current Eden Park location so that they can be brought to Franklin. The seats will enable the working party to upgrade many of the current bench seats and create a better experience for spectators of all sport and events at the stadium.
Volunteers do not need any special skill or tools: “All you need is energy!” say volunteer organiser Paul Reidy.
Help at anytime during the stated days, from the whole day to an hour or two, would be most welcome. If you are interested in knowing more, or are able to volunteer, please call Paul Reidy on 021 922 795 or David Peden on 0274 795 784.
In order to make the process as easy as possible for volunteers, car pooling into Eden Park can be organised, so don’t let the drive to Auckland stop you!
