The Waitaki District Council would like to remind everyone that nominations for the 2008 Waitaki Citizens’ Awards close at 5pm on Friday 1 August. Those of you who have already picked up nomination forms may not realise this date is looming, and those of you who have long thought of nominating that very special person should bear this deadline firmly in mind.

The only criteria for nomination are:

“People are encouraged to nominate members of the community who have made a significant contribution to the well-being of the Waitaki District and its citizens."

There are a great many people in our District who provide, or have in the past provided, a long and unselfish service to many areas of the community, and yet these people are often unknown outside of the areas to which they have given such unstinting service.

Those worthy of nomination have also perhaps devoted themselves and given their time to only one notable cause and may be of any age.

Now is your chance to nominate that special someone, and don’t forget
1 August is the deadline. Confidential nomination forms are still available from:

· Waitaki District Council Office, 20 Thames Street, Oamaru
· Oamaru Public Library, Thames Street, Oamaru
· Waihemo Service Centre, Tiverton Street, Palmerston and
· Kurow Community Centre, Kurow
· OR visit our website www.waitaki.govt.nz   where you will find all the information you require.
