Gemmell injury won't be a concern
New Zealand Triathlete Kris Gemmell has picked up a minor injury while racing in Germany on the weekend but it is not one that will keep him from the start line in Beijing in a fortnight’s time.
Gemmell cut his foot in the German Bundesliga race on Sunday as he exited the first transition (swim to bike). Gemmell required stitches in the cut but received superb treatment and is now under the capable care of Tri NZ Team Doctor John Hellemans.
Hellemans says Gemmell will at worst be off running for a couple of days but will be back into full training by the end of the week and will certainly be fit to race in Beijing.
Gemmell has continued to train in other aspects and was swimming this morning.
