The hunt for New Zealand’s next top young model has launched with a nationwide search for an up and coming model who will become the first “Miss Switch”.

The Farmers ‘Miss Switch’ model search launched this week and is open to all girls from the age of 14 who have what it takes to front a fashion campaign for the leading New Zealand retailer.

Aspiring young models can enter by filling in an online application form at www.MissSwitch.co.nz and uploading two photographs of themselves.

The winner of the competition will be generously rewarded with a prize pack including a photo shoot for the Farmers Miss Switch catalogue, an all expenses paid trip to Melbourne for a photo shoot for youth make-up brand Chi Chi and $1000 to spend at Farmers.

Competition partner and judge, Sara Tetro of 62 Models, says they are looking for bright, confident and attractive young girls with the right attitude and personality to represent the Farmers Miss Switch brand.

Runner up of Americas Next Top Model, Chantal Jones, on her recent trip to New Zealand had some advice for aspiring young models captured in exclusive behind-the-scenes footage whilst shooting the latest collections for the Farmers Spring Summer catalogue: “If travelling is something that you want to do, you want to see the world, then I think modelling will be a great career for you… Modelling for Farmers has been absolutely fabulous.”

Dean Cook, Marketing Director of Farmers says: “the first Miss Switch needs have a sense of fun, enthusiasm and confidence. Miss Switch is a fresh and funky collection that is catwalk inspired so we need a girl who has the right attitude to bring the clothes to life.”

The Miss Switch site features the fun and funky youth range from Farmers, which offers contemporary styles at affordable prices.

The site will also cover competitions, email club and fashion education in the future.

Competition entries close 5:00pm on 3rd October 2008. The lucky winner will be announced 10th November 2008.
