The Great Lake Centre’s Qualmark rating has recently been assessed and they have retained their 4 star grade in the venues category.

The centre first applied for grading in 2004, improving their rating in 2006 and has retained their 4 star grade this year. To achieve a 4 star rating the venue and facilities must be excellent and consistently achieve high quality levels of service.

The Qualmark grading system helps the public and event organisers to identify good quality venues. The assessment is based on criteria including customer service, cleanliness, facilities, safety and business operation and more.

The restructuring of the Great Lake Centre team and the development of the venue assistants contributed to the increased rating. The Assessor said, “The team consisting of an experienced operations manager, venue manager and marketing and event manager, with an enthusiastic team of venue assistants, accounts for a large part of the result of this assessment.”

The Assessor also said that the exterior maintenance is very good and makes for an excellent first impression and the artwork in the entrance hall is remarkable and has local significance.

Marketing and Events Manager Jessica Simpson said that she was very pleased that the Great Lake Centre was able to maintain the 4 star rating. “It is not easy to get a 4 star rating, or to maintain it so I am rapt with the result – we are now looking at ways we can work towards the 5 star.”

Recreation Manager Thunes Cloete says the Great Lake Centre Qualmark rating increases the integrity of the venue, making it more attractive to international clients.
