DANNEVIRKE

The council has revoked a resolution passed a month ago to sell the 8.7145 ha Tahoraite Plantation Reserve at Dannevirke. The decision was made on the basis of a commissioned report on the land status but this has since been questioned by the council’s legal advisors, Mr Twentyman said. The matter will now be reconsidered.

The council’s ‘healthy’ record of supporting the Healthy Homes initiative continues. Over the last two years, around 91 homes per year have been completed and there are 70 on the list for the 2008/09 year – so far.

Library circulation figures have shown an encouraging rise in all libraries with the exception of Woodville and foot traffic numbers also continue to increase.

A chemical analysis of the water in Pahiatua’s new well is available with the final report from a seven-day pump test still to come. Indications are that some filtration may be required. Design work is underway for the treatment system, manager district assets Stephen Taylor reports.

In Eketahuna the first stage of the treatment plant upgrade has been commissioned and is working well.
