Tararua Appoints Chief Executive

A Queenstown Lakes District general manager, Blair King, has been appointed as chief executive of the Tararua District Council.

Mr King, 40, is general manager of Lakes Engineering Ltd and a former assets manager of Kaipara District Council.
He will take up his new position - his first as a chief executive, on November 3, 2008.

He is an engineer, graduating from Auckland University and has a background in local and central government in addition to consultant and contractor roles.

Mayor Maureen Reynolds announced the appointment to council staff on Monday.

“Mr King is looking forward to moving north and working with staff and councillors to deliver Council’s programmes for Tararua,” she said.

A Justice of the Peace, Mr King’s other interests include being a multisports athlete and a volunteer fire fighter.
