Calling for entries - Taupo Times District Youth Awards

he Taupo Times District Youth Awards have been running for five years and the competition provides an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our local youth who are achieving in four different fields – sports, arts academic and leadership.

Councillor Mich’ael Downard, who is a member of the judging panel said over 72 entries were received last year. “We want just as many, if not more entries this year – if you know a young person who deserves recognition, make sure you get your entry in.”

“This event showcases to our community some of the up and coming young talent we have in this District,” he said.

Entries close Friday 26 September at 4.30 pm and entry forms are available at Council offices in Taupo, Turangi and Mangakino and available at www.taupo.govt.nz. The 2008 Youth Awards Evening is being held on Monday 20 October at the Great Lake Centre.

Taupo District Council and the Community Support Team who are coordinating the event would like to thank the Taupo Times, Bayview Wairakei Resort, Smiths Sports Shoes, Le Pine and Co and Radioworks for their support in making this event a reality.
