Alan Isaac was appointed chairman of New Zealand Cricket at today’s board meeting in Christchurch, replacing Sir John Anderson, who retired at the AGM earlier this month.

Alan has been on the board for 18 years and has been acting chairman since Sir John’s retirement.

Justin Vaughan, CEO New Zealand Cricket, said that in this time Alan has shown himself to be an excellent strategist and thinker and has a deep knowledge of cricket in New Zealand

“Sir John has left big shoes to fill, but we are sure that Alan will be an excellent new chairman. Cricket is witnessing explosive growth, with new competitions backed by burgeoning media interest. It really is an exciting time for the sport,” he said.

Alan Isaac said that these were amazing and fast-moving times for the sport and that New Zealand Cricket was deeply involved in shaping these changes.

“You only have to look at Twenty/20 and see its evolution in the last two years to understand the changes that are happening in the game,” he said.
