Landslide Win To Community Board
Local identity Ross Macdonald has been elected to the Dannevirke Community Board in a landslide voting result.
Of three candidates Mr Macdonald took 2379 votes, with Steven Munday and Judith Brenan gaining 261 and 213 votes respectively.
Mr Macdonald is a long time Dannevirke identity and a former policeman in the town.
He will start his term next month.
The by-election attracted a comparatively high voter turnout of 42.43%, indicating a high level of public interest, electoral officer Mike Brown said.
