Hastings District Council is providing an opportunity for community groups to hear directly from trusts and government departments on funding opportunities.

On Wednesday October 15, groups are invited to a Funding Forum to hear speakers from Hastings District Council, Endeavour Community Trust, Eastern & Central Community Trust, the Department of Internal Affairs and Trust House Charitable Trust at the Council Chambers.

Speakers will cover what funding is available, what the criteria are for each stream and how groups go about getting it.

Following the presentation, community group members can put their questions to speakers directly.

Mandy Kaye, Community Development Planner for the Hastings District Council, says the Funding Forum is one of four Community Forums held by the council this year, including Stopping Family Violence and Focus on Disability.

“The forums are a great opportunity for sharing information and networking. From the Council’s perspective, the forums help build the community and empower groups already doing a great job in our city.

“This is our second Funding Forum this year. We understand how tough it is for community groups - they are all competing for the same limited funding dollar and this aims to provide more information.”

The Funding Forum will be held from 11am - 1.30pm, with refreshments provided.

Community groups wanting to attend can RSVP to Maria Norrelle, on 878 0500 extn: 8705 by Monday 13 October.
