The majority of the NZ Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) team departed New Zealand today, on their way to a week long training camp in Queensland.

The training camp is the first of two offical training camps which are being held immediately before the JWOC competition kicks off. The camp is being held from the 23rd through to the 28th in South East Queensland, on granite maps made by Eric Andrews who is the main mapper of the JWOC maps in Dubbo.

The second training camp is being held in Orange, around 150km away from the city of Dubbo which is where JWOC is actually being held. This year training for JWOC is unique, as Dubbo is not a place of orienteering. The only maps around Dubbo have been made especially for JWOC and the supporting events. The nearest area of granite maps is infact around Orange.
