As England's netball team approach our shores to play the Silver Ferns in the New World International Netball Series, Netball New Zealand is releasing the name of the trophy that is to be awarded to the winner.

Taini Jamison Trophy

The trophy will represent the past and present of New Zealand International Netball as it is named after Taini Jamison, the first to coach New Zealand to a World Championship title in 1967.

Taini is a NNZ Service Award Holder which she was awarded in 1971. Taini has continued to be involved in many aspect of Netball today and is a huge supporter of Bay of Plenty/Rotorua Netball.

Still seen helping and enjoying many netball events around New Zealand, Taini has a genuine history with the sport including her role as an Executive member and being the immediate Past President and leading back to her days as a representative player and captain for Rotorua.

Rotorua Netball has benefited immensely as Taini has been involved with their association for 60 Years of Service from 1948 – 2008. This has involved organising and playing in the Kurungaituku Tournament since 1948 and coaching representative teams at all levels. The Taini Jamison trophy will have the Rotorua Emblem etched on the front.
In 2006 Taini was inducted into the Aotearoa Sports hall of fame.
Netball New Zealand Chief Executive Raelene Castle is proud to be able to name the new series trophy after such a prominent netball character.

"Taini is an perfect example of someone who gives back to the sport she loves and it is only fitting that the trophy be named after her," she said, " Netball New Zealand is very honored that Taini has accepted our invitation and we look forward to presenting the Trophy for the first time in Palmerston North on Saturday 18th October.

The trophy will be presented at the conclusion of the New World International Netball Series against England in Palmerston North on Saturday the 18th of October. Viewing of the trophy will be available on Monday 13th October.
