Finance Crisis needs collectiveness
In April, when the writing was on the wall that New Zealand was facing financial woes, EUFA called for a meeting with all political party leaders.
Labour, National and New Zealand First refused to meet together with EUFA. Most of the smaller parties didnt respond to the invitation.
However - National’s call to work together with labour is a positive move for New Zealanders. Politicians work together every day in Select committees and there is no reason why this can’t be done now in the name of responsibility.
It is time the politicians listened to the people and maybe the National leader has realised this. All political parties have ignored the financial crisis - burying their heads in the sand and protecting the perpetrators. New Zealand’s crisis is one of its own and cannot be excused. New Zealand has allowed a very WRONG model for finance companies to operate. A very WRONG and very IRRESPONSIBLE model. The Banking model in New Zealand has also been profit and sales focused. There has been no breaks put on them -therefor creating New Zealand’s own demise. Politicians have allowed this to happen since the mid nineties.
Coordinator of EUFA, Suzanne Edmonds said this morning “Too many big names were and still are involved with Finance Companies and Banks. EUFA members believe the politicians were simply protecting their mates over and above being responsible in their duty to serve in the best interests of New Zealand”
Mrs Edmonds added “We are Calling for ‘A duty of care’ to prevail at this time. This is not a time for playing the political football - it is time for pulling together across New Zealand to address a crisis. Electioneering over these issues would be seriously irresponsible" .
