Tickets now on sale for Sportsperson of the year awards

Tickets are now on sale for the 2008 Central Energy Trust Manawatu Sportsperson of the year awards.

The awards, which are run by Sport Manawatu aim to celebrate the achievements of the best sportsperson, sports team, administrator, coach, official and junior sportsperson in our region.

Guest speaker for this year has been confirmed as Olympic medallist Mahe Drysdale.

“Mahe’s effort in the single sculls the Beijing Olympics was truly courageous and I’m sure he will be a great inspiration for everyone at the awards,” says Sean O’Connor, Sport Manawatu’s development manager.

This year has produced a great number of quality nominations and will make the judges final decisions very difficult, says O’Connor.

The awards function will be held Friday November 14 at the Awapuni Function Centre. Tickets are $55 for an individual or $400 for a table of eight and include a three course dinner.
