Everyone's Invited to Light Up Their Home

Everyone throughout New Plymouth District is being invited to take part in the TSB Bank Festival of Lights by lighting up their homes!

The Light Up Your Homes programme is being launched tomorrow, with people invited to register their participation in the four-week event.

“This is for anyone who is interested in decorating their houses with festive lights for the enjoyment of the general community,” says Manager Community Development Bry Kopu.

“It’s a great way to bring the TSB Bank Festival of Lights into our streets and encourage communities to celebrate the summer season.”

The event will run from 17 December to 11 January, with homes lit every night from 9pm to 11pm during this time. Houses taking part will be listed in a Holiday Lights Trail for the public to follow, and all participating homeowners will go in a draw to win one of 10 prizes.

This year New Plymouth District Council is partnering with North Taranaki Neighbourhood Support to extend the Light Up Your Home programme.

“We’re encouraging Neighbourhood Support members, who already do a fabulous job in the community, to encourage whole streets to take part in the trail as a means to help strengthen and grow their networks,” says Ms Kopu.

“But anyone at all can enter, with registrations closing on Friday 28 November.”

Entry forms are available in tomorrow’s (Wednesday's) issue of the North Taranaki Midweek and Saturday’s (1 November) Taranaki Daily News, from council offices and library and service centres, and on this website.
