This Thursday young leaders from political parties will debate the topic "What do we agree on?" in Wellington, moderated by TV and radio celebrity Mikey Havoc, streamed live to the Net and uploaded to Youtube.

"Modern politics is characterised by people who seem to spend far more energy fighting each other than working together for a better nation" says Young Greens spokesperson Gareth Hughes.

Young candidates and representatives from the parties are keen to show they are willing to work together constructively, like the unified campaign in 2006 not to raise the drinking age and the fantastic initiative this election to support the Great New Zealand Vote Party to help make voting a social event and fun for young people" says Mr Hughes.

What: Each candidate will speak for 3 minutes and then we will go into a fairly free flowing session with a combination of questions from Mikey Havoc, the audience from Youtube viewers.

Where: The Lodge Room at the Southern Cross -39 Abel Smith Street, Te Aro, Wellington.

When: Thursday October 30, the debate will begin at 2pm

The candidates and representatives:

Mike Bridge (Act)
Gareth Hughes (Greens)
Rebekah Clement (KiwiParty)
Sonny Thomas (Labour)
Maria Paenga (Maori Party)
Alex Mitchell (National)
Paula Gillon (Progressive)
Damian Light (United Future)

The debate will be preceded by a media event with the young candidates to promote the Great New Zealand Vote Party - www.voteparty.co.nz/
