Council Launches New Online Community - Join In!
Franklin District Council has launched a bold new initiative to help them know your views on Franklin issues. To stand alongside the more traditional issue or planning based consultation, Council has started a new online Consultation Community with discussions and surveys running 24 hours on all manner of topics. Best of all, anyone can join!
“Once you have signed up to be a member of the Consultation Community you can login anytime and take part in quick surveys, rank Council issues or services and comment or debate issues with other members,” says Franklin District Mayor, Mark Ball.
The new online Consultation Community is big news for Franklin residents and Council hopes it will encourage a whole new group of people (often thought of as the ‘silent majority’) to have their say.
Launched last week, the site is going well but it needs more members. Council wants to make sure that the online Franklin community is as varied as the real one so whether you are young or old, if you care about Franklin and want to help shape our future you should join up!
“We would really like as many residents as possible to get involved. It’s your chance to tell us what you really think – all from the comfort and privacy of your own home,” says Mayor Ball.
Deadlines, formal submission forms and the printing of your personal information are all a part of the formal submission process that can turn some people off. The formal submission process also doesn’t allow you to easily hear what everyone else is saying. The new online Consultation Community is different. It is fun, interactive, informal and confidential and compliments the necessary statutory consultation that Council has to undertake.
