Countdown to Summerdaze
The countdown is on as preparations come together for a month-long, fun filled summer festival set to entertain the whole Queenstown Lakes district.
“The annual Summerdaze Festival is celebrating its fifth year and the calendar is jam packed with events for the whole family,” Queenstown Lakes District Council arts and events facilitator Jan Maxwell said.
The 2008 festival would be managed by award winning event management company, EveNZ.
“We are really excited about being involved in Summerdaze,” said festival manager Kerry Quin. “The programme is packed to the brim with some great events and opportunities for people to get involved. This year we’ve also come up with some exciting new events to keep the programme fresh,” she said.
The old favourites would still hold their place in the programme with a tea dance in Arrowtown, the ever popular youth event Park Up, returning to the brand new Queenstown Skate Park and making its debut in Wanaka, not to mention the signature Teddy Bear Picnics and New Year’s Eve fireworks displays in Queenstown and Wanaka.
“New Year’s Eve is going to be huge. The organisers are guaranteeing a great show with a fantastic line-up of bands signed up for both Queenstown and Wanaka, and a cracking fireworks display to top the night off,” Mrs Maxwell said.
The festival will run from December 31 through to February 1.
A full programme of events would be announced over the coming weeks with calendars being delivered district wide in early November.
