Experienced businessman and director Stuart Heal has been appointed as a replacement Director on the Board of New Zealand Cricket.

Heal was chief executive of South Island-based rural services and supply company CRT (Combined Rural Traders) from 1986 to 2004, leading the company through a period of sustained growth, mergers and acquisitions.

He is currently a director on several boards, including Rural Otago PHO, Broadway Industries Ltd, High Plains Wine Inc, Pioneer Generation Ltd and University Bookshop (Otago) Ltd. He was also chairman of Otago Cricket during the University Oval development.

Heal’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Sir John Anderson, who resigned at the NZC AGM in September 2008. Heal’s term extends to the next AGM in September 2009, at which time he will be eligible for reappointment.
